The other side of tea

‘Black’ Kyusu by Jiří Duchek

‘Black’ kyusu teapot was made by Czech artist Jiří Duchek. Wood-fired at a temperature of 1200°C in a strongly reducing environment.

Everything that happens on the surface is created solely by the process of wood burning – flames, and ashes. Firing takes place in a wood-fired kiln. The teapot is quite versatile, but it is most suitable for rather pronounced teas. Jiří Duchek’s handcrafted ceramics are made of clay obtained from local landscapes by the master himself. Its path from digging, through the processing of the clay to the final masterpiece, takes around one year.

Capacity ~ 100ml

Unglazed.

Please note that this is a handmade piece, therefore color, size, and shape may vary slightly.
