‘Black’ teapot was made by Czech artist Jiří Duchek.
Everything that happens on the surface is created solely by the process of wood burning – flames, and ashes. Jiří Duchek’s handcrafted ceramics are made of clay obtained from local landscapes by the master himself. Its path from digging, through the processing of the clay to the final masterpiece, takes around one year.
Fired at 1200°C in a highly-reduced atmosphere, this means a minimum amount of oxygen inside the kiln, so that the carbon remains in the clay. In this way, the clay acquires a visible unique black colour.
Capacity ~ 140ml
Unglazed inside.
Firing takes place in a wood-fired kiln.
Please note that this is a handmade piece, therefore color, size, and shape may vary slightly.
