The other side of tea

Black Teapot #1

Black teapot made by Czech artist Jiří Duchek.

The black color of the teapot is due to the low oxygen firing method. Firing takes place in a wood-fired kiln. Jiří Duchek’s ceramics is handcrafted with use of clay obtained from local landscapes by the master himself. Its path from digging, through the processing of the clay to the final masterpiece, takes around one year.

The black teapot suppresses sharp tones and absorbs softness, so it is suitable for rougher and robust teas, mostly dark, red, and puerh. It is good to pour the tea over the pot from time to time – to take on a beautiful tea patina and to make the tea taste better. The teapot will be perfectly combined with the black cups by Jiří Duchek.
