2016 Thai Wild Purple Tree


This is a micro-production of excellent tea, rare, unique, truly extraordinary, and confusing. Produced from true wild tea trees growing between 1500m and 2000m in an exceptional terroir – the protected forest of the natural park of Doi Pha Hom Pok, on the border between Thailand and Burma. The wild variety that grows in this forest is similar to the one used to produce the white Nanmei buds. Like these, they only bud once a year, in winter. Usually used for its typical spike-shaped buds, it is very rare to produce tea from the developed leaves of this tree. Shaped and dried in the sun in the manner of a raw puerh, these leaves nevertheless produce a rich and truly unique tea, the character of which differs from all the other puerhs that you may have tasted! There is a lot of sweetness, and an explosion of fruity citrus flavor (which is reminiscent of wild white buds), touches of exotic fruits, flowers, but above all a light and very pleasant touch of acidity that makes this tea truly unique. In short, it is atypical, unusual, but brilliant, and it is without a doubt the discovery of 2020. Expect a delightful shock at the first tasting!

Tasting notes
The dry leaves already give off an incredible fruitiness in which we find a concentrate of mirabelle plum, passion fruit and raisins. The infusion is on the line, with lots of yellow fruit, mirabelle plum, ripe green grapes, pink grapefruit, a touch of lemon, and this surprisingly light acidity, gives the tea a unique touch and a good dose of vitality!
