Chabu 茶布 – Tea stage
This chabu is made from antique linen grain sack handspun, handwoven, peasant linen. It originates from around 1900′ from Northern Hesse in Germany. This linen fabric was manufactured before there were pesticides and is of organic, artisanal quality. The texture of this cloth is irregular and rough with thicker grass stands are visibly woven in between the yarn. Yuliya takes time and uses traditional methods to clean it and prepare it for dyeing with natural pigments. Dyeing fabric in a natural way takes time, observation and exploration but the result is well worth it. Each runner is unique and can be used double-sided. Colours and patterns are created with dian hong leaves and rust that has been left in touch with the fabric over an extended period to develop fascinating imprints.
Size 62cm x 34cm
It can be washed on the gentle washing cycle with PH-neutral detergent. Iron with the cotton setting. Natural dyes are light-sensitive and with the use of cloth will develop another layer of pattern left by tea drops and watermarks. It is made with love to Mother Earth, Tea, Human and the process.
NOTE! All chabu are slightly different but all come from the same batch and are like siblings from the same parents. One side has got a more pastel look to it and other sharper contours.
