Puerh, or pu’er, is one of the most prestigious tea families which have been grown since ancient times in the mountains of Yunnan in the deep south of China.
Contrary to most teas, which are produced from young plants and maintained in a bush shape, puerh tea is traditionally harvested from genuine mature trees.
This type of tea tree can grow up to a couple of meters high. The trees are sometimes several hundred years old, with the oldest specimens reaching even a thousand years.
